Corten Steel Garden Edging defines beds, paths and lawn borders with the warm finish of weathering steel (SPA-H). It is supplied pre-weathered, so each strip arrives with its russet patina already developed. You do not wait months for the colour, and there is less early rust run-off onto new paving. As it ages, the oxide layer slowly deepens and protects the steel beneath.
What it’s for
Use it for garden beds, lawn and path borders, raised plantings and feature landscaping in residential, commercial and public projects. The nine heights run from a low 75mm lawn edge to a 400mm profile that retains more soil. For a bright, non-weathering alternative, see our SS304 stainless garden edging.

Finish & standards
Corten has no applied coating: the weathered patina is the finish. A pre-weathered strip is already rust-coloured when it arrives. If you would rather weather it in place, raw (un-rusted) edging is available on request. Plan for early run-off either way, so that pale paving and render are not stained while the patina settles. Our guide to Corten and architectural garden steel covers detailing for run-off.
What’s included
- 1 edging section in the length you select

Installation notes
- As a rule of thumb, bury about half the profile height.
- Set out with a string line and join lengths with the connecting piece before driving the stakes.
- Keep the edging off fresh concrete and pale paving where possible during the first months, and keep run-off away from porous surfaces.
- Wear gloves, because the edge of cut sheet steel is sharp.
- Choose 2mm or 3mm for taller profiles or long straight runs where stiffness matters.
FAQs
Will it stain my paving?
Pre-weathered steel reduces early rust run-off but does not remove it. Detail drainage away from pale paving, especially in the first months.
Can I get it unweathered?
Yes. Raw (un-rusted) Corten edging is available on request if you want it to weather in place.
Which height should I choose?
Use 75mm to 125mm for lawn borders. Use 150mm to 200mm for most garden beds, and 240mm to 400mm where the edge retains more soil or forms a raised bed.
What comes with each unit?
Each unit comes with the edging section, tapered stakes and a connecting piece, with matching screws.
