The parallel flange channel is the workhorse section for lintels, edge beams, purlin runs, gantry rails, machinery frames and mezzanine floor edges: anywhere an open C-profile makes sense. Our PFCs are rolled to AS/NZS 3679.1 Grade 300 and supplied straight, square and ready to cut, drill or weld into your frame. Every length is cut to size by NWI Fabrication in our Wetherill Park workshop before dispatch.
What it’s for
- Lintels and edge beams in residential and commercial construction
- Purlin and girt runs, and gantry rails
- Machinery frames, skids and equipment bases
- Mezzanine floor edges and trimmer beams
- Back-to-back or stitched double-C beams
Need a lintel with a welded brick shelf rather than a plain channel? Configure a fabricated PFC lintel in 3D instead.

Finish & standards
- Hot-dip galvanised (AS/NZS 4680): full-immersion galvanising for long-term corrosion resistance in exterior, coastal, industrial and exposed applications, with little maintenance needed.
- Primed: a single coat of rust-inhibiting shop primer for interior use or as a base for a site-applied paint or top-coat system. It costs less up front but needs a top coat for exposed work.
Not sure which to choose? Our galvanised vs powder coat guide compares the options, and structural steel, cut and ready explains how we supply sections.
What’s included
One parallel flange channel in your selected size and finish, cut to your length. Any extra fabrication (holes, coping, cleats) is scoped and quoted separately.
Lead time & delivery
Channels are cut to your length in our Wetherill Park NSW workshop and delivered Australia-wide. Galvanised items go through an external galvanising process, so allow extra time for that finish. The lead time is confirmed with your order. Freight is quoted live in the cart. See our shipping policy.
Installation notes
- Section size, span, bearing and connection details must come from your structural engineer or the approved drawings.
- Channels are not symmetrical about the web, so loads applied away from the shear centre cause twisting. Your engineer will detail restraint where needed.
- Touch up cut ends or site welds on galvanised steel with a zinc-rich repair coating.
- Primed steel exposed to weather needs a full top-coat system after installation.
FAQs
Can you cut PFC to my exact length?
Yes. Every channel is cut to size from 9 m mill lengths, up to 9 m long.
Should I choose galvanised or primed?
Choose galvanised for exterior, coastal, industrial or exposed work. Choose primed for interior steel or where the channel will be site-painted.
Can you drill holes or weld cleats?
Yes. Holes, coped ends, welded cleats and stitched double-C pairs are done in-house. Flag them in a quote request.
Can I get mill certificates?
Yes, mill certificates are available on request. Ask when you order.
Why isn’t a price shown straight away?
The price depends on size and finish, so it appears once you make your selections.
